- People are learning skills and leadership behaviors that move beyond win/lose. God has given differing gifts. How do we learn to receive one another’s gifts and stay at the table together?

The Center for Parish Development makes up a wide learning community of those seeking to discern and take part in God’s mission more faithfully and fruitfully. We are buoyed by the testimonies of faith communities transforming toward God’s mission. Our learning community is expanding, for example, with an online forum where leaders are sharing successes and concerns, learnings and resources, and receiving support for their transformational journeys. We invite you to claim a place at the table of the Center learning community.
With grateful hearts we look back on 2011 as a fruitful year of partnership with the church. And now, as we look ahead, we invite you to make a financial gift with a mindset of “giving it forward.” Giving it forward is an act of faith that building on what has been started God will multiply forward the blessings from the gift you give. Giving it forward anticipates new doors opening! Imagination unleashed! Renewing hearts and minds!
Here are some ways we anticipate joining in what the Spirit is doing in 2012:
- Supporting a new cluster of churches and coaches in New Jersey starting out on a Journey of the People of God.
- Resourcing churches and leaders among Presbyterians in northern Indiana where missional transformation is a continuing passionate priority.
- Holding the 2012 Missional Church Convocation (July 26-28) in Chicago with Debra Dean Murphy, tapping her gifts and wisdom around the “subversive act of the church’s worship” and its power and witness in today’s world.
- Equipping churches spotted across the nation’s heartland, entering into focused times of communal discernment, renewing hearts and minds around God’s vision for them.
- Joining in generative conversations with church leaders at every level seeking to move beyond we/they battles and win/lose dynamics to really be the church for the sake of the world.
- The Chinese Methodist Church in Singapore – where West meets East – and the Sengkang congregation in particular, seeking to be guided by God’s vision.
- An Advisory Community surrounding the Center offering wisdom and prayer, shaping new trajectories of the Center’s mission that will support churches over the next decade.
- The shaping of new forms of access for church leaders partnering to support transformational initiatives within a missional learning community.
